What is Metalab?

Metalab is a Canadian interface and software design company based out of Victoria, B.C. They are known for making Ballpark (an invoicing application) and Pixel Union (premium themes for Tumblr) and of course, Flow (a project management application).

What is Flow?

Flow is a task-management tool that allows users to collaborate with their teams across numerous platforms such as iOS, the web, or through its Mac application. Here is a video by MetaLab that explains how Flow works.

What You Can Do in Flow

  • Create tasks wherever and whenever with the task form
  • Set priorities for tasks
  • Drop tasks into lists to keep related tasks organized
  • Track task histories, with comments and attachments
  • Sort tasks by person, keyword, due date, or tag
  • Set repeating tasks
  • Add subtasks to break complex tasks into easy to-dos
  • Arrange tasks by assigned, flagged, subscribed or delegated
  • Create private to-do lists with just the people who matter
  • Create tasks on the go from your iOS or Android device

Pricing

Flow accounts are individual and unlimited. You can always create as many projects and tasks as you need, and you can work with any number of collaborators. We think this is an important part of what makes Flow simple and flexible.

You can also add multiple Flow accounts to your subscription, which is great for teams. Additional accounts cost the same, appear on the same invoice, and renew at the same time. The more accounts you pay for, the more you save.

Bottom Line

There is no doubt that by using Flow, your team will work more efficiently. Flow already has some pretty famous subscribers including: Adobe, Costco, Del Monte, The Salvation Army, and MIT. I feel that Flow works best with smaller companies and/or projects. For more sophisticated projects there are better tools out there.

Flow is beautiful and is an asset to any project. MetaLab offers any new users to try Flow for free for 30 days with no financial obligation. If you are wondering how Flow can benefit your business or project then I suggest taking advantage of the free trial to see if it’s a good fit or not.

For those of you readers needing more tools and features, I’ll be reviewing similar applications that can handle more tasks!
